Mobile Sales for a Jewellery Distributer

Our UK based customer is a manufacturer and distributer of a wide range of jewellery products, and sells them to many of the leading independent jewellers throughout the UK. They introduced the SageBarcoder Mobile sales module and Stock Control system in June 2010.

 The requirement for the introduction of the SageBarcoder system came about through the introduction into the UK market of a totally new product range.  The range was extensive, and the sales force was enlarged to take advantage of the new opportunities presented..  In addition, the company was well aware that additional orders meant additional work for those involved in despatching the orders. 

 It was essential that the order fulfilment process was both efficient and accurate.  Sage Barcoder has delivered these benefits, and is allowing our customer to maximise the impact of their new range while ensuring that orders are fulfilled quickly and efficiently.

 As the joint owner of the company explained, “The introduction of the system began with extending the use of Sage 50 Accounts.  This included use of the Stock Module and Sales Order Modules.  This was very quickly achieved, and soon we were using SageBarcoder to both process incoming and outgoing sales against sales orders.  The immediate benefit was to ensure that all sales orders despatched were accurate.”

With the internal business process now working well, it was possible to give the sales team CipherLab 9600 barcode scanners which work with SageBarcoder

The CipherLab 9600 is ideally suited to this application because of its large screen.The CipherLab 9600 uses mobile phone technology to communicate back to the office. It can also work perfectly well if a GPRS connection is not immediately available.

 Our customer's sales reps now use the CipherLab to capture the details of each order while still with the customer.  This reduces the time taken to take down the order, as well as ensuring there is no possibility of a mistake.  The system provides information on the total price of the order, as well as allowing notes to be created with the order.  On completion, the order is transmitted back to the office and straight into Sage 50 Accounts, and SageBarcoder, for despatch and invoicing. 

Overall, SageBarcoder has enabled our customer to sell more without the need to increase costs.
